For the week of June 2, 2024: The 35th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre is June 4.  Throughout the spring of 1989, university students occupied the vast square in the centre of the capital, demanding democratic reforms.  Then the People’s Liberation Army violently quashed the protests as the world watched the horror unfold.
